Heller fearing tax hikes in lame duck
October 19, 2010 - 3:27 pm
Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., said in a televised interview today his biggest fear in the upcoming lame duck session of Congress is the potential for tax hikes.
“Here we are, less than 100 days out from the end of the year; we do not know what our tax structure is going to look like. And my biggest concern is this lame duck session we're going to start raising taxes," Heller said during an appearance on Nevada Newsmakers in Reno, according to this report from the Nevada News Bureau.
The Democrats will be in charge of the House and Senate during the post-election session. If Republicans make big gains on Election Day as most analysts predict, new lawmakers won't be seated until January.
“We do not know what we’re going to look like,” Heller said of the congressional make-up.
On another topic, Heller again declined to bite on whether he plans to run for the Senate in 2012, saying "we'll talk about that in six months."
