SINGER CANCELS HENDERSON APPEARANCE

Miranda Cosgrove has canceled her Sept. 16 show at the Henderson Pavilion.

The "iCarly" star broke her ankle after her tour bus crashed in early August, and it was recommended that she take time to recover.

Cosgrove canceled the remainder of her Dancing Crazy Summer Tour.

WORKSHOP offers tips
on TRIATHLON TRAINING BASICS

Henderson's parks and recreation department is scheduled to put on a workshop about triathlon training from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Whitney Ranch Indoor Pool, 1575 Galleria Drive.

Participation is $30 each and is for people 16 or older.

Find a new pet at adoption event

Mutts on Main Street pet adoption is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2240 Village Walk Drive.

The event is organized by several pet rescue organizations. Dogs, cats and other animals will be available.

MONKEY GYM SEEKS STRONG YOUTHs
FOR FITNESS LEAGUE

The Monkey Gym, 1999 Whitney Mesa Drive, has announced its schedule for its Fitness League every Saturday until Oct. 15.

Classes are slated to run from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. for ages 5 to 7 and noon to 2 p.m. ages 8 to 13.

The next fitness league is scheduled for Saturday and includes a strength competition that features pushing, pulling, carrying and throwing large objects.

ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZES CITY FOR HELP

The city of Henderson's Cultural Arts and Tourism Department was honored by the American Diabetes Association at the Aug. 16 City Council meeting.

The association recognized the department for its work in providing assistance for the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure cycling event.

Vote in America's favorite park contest

County officials are encouraging residents to vote for their favorite Clark County park in "America's Favorite Park" contest.

The park that wins the most votes will receive a $100,000 grant to buy new equipment, restore activity areas and do other recreational projects. Grants of $50,000 and $25,000 are awarded to second- and third-place vote getters.

The contest ends Sept. 6.
