SOLAR ENERGY PRESENTATION SET FOR NOV. 10
NV Energy plans a solar energy presentation for homeowners at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway. The event is set to cover the basics of how solar energy works, net metering and billing, financial models, how to find a contractor and more. Registration is required. CITY CLOSURES EXPECTED NOV. 11
The city of Henderson is set to close its city hall, municipal court, recreation and senior centers and pools on Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
Henderson libraries are also scheduled to be closed on the holiday.

LIBRARY SCHEDULES CLASS ON IPADS
The Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, plans a basic iPad class from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14. The class is set to teach participants how to send messages, check emails, sync with iTunes and more. Registration is required.

PARTICIPANTS SOUGHT FOR WINTERFEST DEC 11-13
The city of Henderson seeks participants for this year’s WinterFest, set for Dec. 11-13 at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.
Entries for the Festival of Trees are due Nov. 17. The city plans to provide the 6-foot tree and stand. Each entry will be judged, and the winner is to receive $250.
Submissions for the WinterFest Evening Light Parade are due Nov. 24. Each entry must contain lights and will be judged in three categories. Winners are to receive $1,000 for first place, $750 for second and $500 for third.
Applications for the Gingerbread House Competition are due Dec. 11. Entries must be 90 percent edible and contain gingerbread, frosting and candy. Each entry will be judged by the public. Winners are slated to receive $100.

TEACHER NEEDS VOTES TO WIN $100,000 FOR SEWELL ELEMENTARY
Sewell Elementary School, 700 E. Lake Mead Drive, seeks support for winning $100,000 through the Farmers Insurance Dream Big Challenge. Teacher Brenda Moynihan is one of 15 finalists in the challenge and will receive the money for the school if she receives the most votes. The contest is set to run through Nov. 30.
