Henderson Libraries continues its 60 days to better health series by offering more activities and classes. A belly-dancing class is planned from
2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gibson Library, 100 W. Lake Mead Parkway. People can learn a variety of steps taught along with veil work and finger cymbals. To register, call 565-8402.

There also is a class about the U.S. Army fitness regimen from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. To register, call 207-4261.

Both classes are free and open to the public, but registration is required.

HENDERSON RANKED AMONG America's
50 BEST CITIES TO LIVE

Henderson was ranked 38th in Bloomberg's BusinessWeek's list of America's 50 Best Cities.

The list looked at items such as number of businesses, poverty level, median household income, school rates, crime rates and unemployment.

PEACE CORPS to host INTEREST MEETING Oct. 11 at Green Valley Library

The Peace Corps plans to host an event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

Volunteers with the organization are slated to discuss the rewards of serving with the Peace Corps, which include anything from learning a new language and living in a different culture to student loan deferment.

The event is free and open to the public.

Learn about herb gardening
at Sunset Garden Club meeting

The Sunset Garden Club plans to meet at noon Oct. 11 at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.

The topic will be "Taste, Touch and Grow Herbs with a Master Gardener," presented by Jeanne Marie Toscano and Lisa Mosbey, Master Gardeners of Southern Nevada.

Toscano and Mosbey plan to discuss growing herbs, from soil preparation and caring for the plants to harvesting and using the herbs. Herb gardeners, anyone who wants to learn more about growing herbs or anyone who wants to share his herb garden stories is welcome. This event is open to the public.

GFWC Green Valley Woman's Club
plans to meet Oct. 11

The GFWC Green Valley Woman's Club meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Findlay Toyota, 7733 Eastgate Road. A representative from Nevada Child Seekers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to locating missing, abducted and runaway children, is scheduled to speak.

Enrich your life through volunteer work and club fellowship with women (working and retired) who make a difference in the community.

Desert H.O.P.E. plans to meet Oct. 13
at Anthem Country Club

The next Desert H.O.P.E. Inc. meeting is set for noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at Anthem Country Club, 1 Club Side Drive.

Desert H.O.P.E. Inc. is a nonprofit, nondenominational women's charity organization. Its mission is to work in direct support of women and their families. Recent projects included a bowl-a-thon for S.A.F.E. House and Duck Buddies for the Positively Kids Duck Derby.
