WARD 1 NEIGHBORHOOD CONNECTION MEETING SCHEDULED
The city of Henderson is scheduled to host a Neighborhood Connection meeting for Ward 1 residents at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Road.
Henderson City Councilwoman Gerri Schroder is slated to address concerns and answer questions. Other city staff members are scheduled to be at the event.

TAKE THE PLUNGE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS NEVADA
Las Vegas Polar Plunge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics Nevada, is set for noon Feb. 15 at the pool at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
Plungers are asked to raise a minimum of $125 before diving into the cold pool. The registration fee includes a hooded sweatshirt and admission to a post-plunge lunch. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

UNION VILLAGE PARTNERS WITH THE VALLEY HEALTH SYSTEM
The integrated health, retail, entertainment and residential plaza Union Village recently sold 38.5 acres of land to the Valley Health System.
The proposed 170-acre complex is near U.S. Highway 95 and Galleria Drive.

CITY LAUNCHES AED LOAN PROGRAM
The city of Henderson is offering an automated external defibrillator loan program for public use.
The portable device is capable of delivering a shock if needed to restore a heart to its normal rhythm in the event of cardiac arrest.
Henderson launched the program after it was approached by three local mothers who founded Adam’s Heart, an organization that was created after one of the members’ sons experienced sudden cardiac arrest during a soccer game.
AEDs are expected to be provided at public gatherings and sporting events at no cost.

WOMEN’S EVENT SCHEDULED FEB. 7 and 8
The Heart’s on Fire Greater Las Vegas Women’s Conference, an event packed with speakers from the religious community delivering messages geared toward women, is scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Feb. 7 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St. Admission is $40, which includes lunch Feb. 8. The event is hosted by the Greater Las Vegas Women’s Ministry.

GROUPS TO DISCUSS PREPARING FOR TAX SEASON
Boomers Babes and Beyond is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 4 at Black Mountain Grill, 11021 S. Eastern Ave.
Rebecca Warnick, a certified public accountant, is expected to speak about preparing for tax season.
The group meets to help women network and find opportunities for social enrichment.

GARDEN CLUB TO TALK TOMATOES
The Sunset Garden Club is scheduled to meet at noon Feb. 11 at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.

REGISTRATION UNDERWAY FOR HENDERSON SENIOR GAMES
Registration for the upcoming Henderson Senior Games was scheduled to open Feb. 3.
The event attracts people 50 or older to participate and compete in a variety of sports and games, including table tennis, basketball, volleyball, bowling and track and field.
Games are scheduled from April 6-27.
