House lights dance for cars passing by — VIDEO

WESTON, Wis. — One northern Wisconsin family went to extra lengths to make their holiday lights display sparkle: They took over an unused radio frequency so the bulbs would dance for people driving by.

Rachel Bartels of Weston says she set out to be “the cool person on the corner with all the cool lights” when she and husband, Jeremy, set up the flashy display. WAOW-TV showcased the house in a report Thursday.

It wasn’t easy.

There are more than 4,000 bulbs with three colors each— red, green and blue — to worry about. They were synched to music streamed through the radio frequency using a special computer program.

The display ends on New Year’s Day. But the Bartels are already thinking about how they can top it next year.
