Human skulls found in teddy bears

Remember that scene where Madame Medusa hides the “Devil’s Eye” diamond inside Penny’s teddy bear in Disney’s “The Rescuers”? Well, a man at a Mexico City airport shipping company tried a similar stunt with human remains on Sunday, but the consequences for his actions were greater than an animated slap on the wrist.

According to International Business Times, Aparicio Fidencio Ramirez was arrested after two human skulls and other remains were found concealed within teddy bears at a security X-ray checkpoint.

“Ramirez said he bought the skulls at a popular downtown Mexico City market stall which sells medicinal herbs and bones,” IBT reports.

The man was reportedly planning to sell the bones to Santeria practitioners, an “Afro-Caribbean syncretic religion.”
