Hyundai Centennial service manager lauds new space

As the service manager of Planet Hyundai's new Centennial location at 6200 Centennial Center Blvd. in the northwest valley, Chance Slingerland is at the helm of a spacious 17,000-square-foot service department that could eventually employ as many as 21 technicians.

The 39-year-old Slingerland not only has the added space to service Hyundais and other brand vehicles but also has access to the service facilities at Planet Hyundai's 7150 W. Sahara Ave. location. As the service manager of both locations, the only Hyundai dealerships in Las Vegas, he is confident that his customers will now be better served with convenience and speedy service than ever before.

"No other manufacturer can match Hyundai's quality and warranty," said Slingerland, a native of Southern California who has lived in Las Vegas since 1993. "Hyundai has done an excellent job with its commitment to quality and their very attractive pricing on new vehicles. Hyundai backs up its claims, that's for sure, and I'm proud to be a part of such a progressive automobile maker along with two locally owned dealerships. With so many dealerships in our valley being owned by large publicly traded corporations, it makes a big difference to our employees and our customers knowing our owners live here in Las Vegas and are active in the daily operation of our stores."

The Hyundai has many qualities but it's the powertrain and transmission that especially impress Slingerland.

"Those two elements of the Hyundai are pretty much bullet-proof," said Slingerland. "With the extremes of climate that we have in Las Vegas, the Hyundai has not only survived the challenges but excelled at the same time."

Slingerland drives a 2011 Sonata, which he just took on a road trip to Disneyland.

"The car handled wonderfully and it had the get-up-and-go when I needed it," Slingerland said. "It cruises like a dream and the sound system is great, too. The car has every bell and whistle possible and it sure made the drive enjoyable. The drive to and from Southern California can get tough, but the Sonata removes the worry."

The recently opened Hyundai location is offering a $19.95 lube, oil and filter special with a multipoint inspection.

"Every vehicle needs to be maintained," said Slingerland. "This service department has quality people here to help with every need whether it's as simple as an oil change or as complex as an engine overhaul. Just in the shop alone, our technicians have 90-plus years of experience and the service drive also includes Bryan Zasloff and Chuck Zemek with a combined total of more than 40 years in the business."

Slingerland has great confidence in the team at Planet Hyundai Centennial.

"I would put my people up against any service department in town," said Slingerland. "When you combine the high standards of Hyundai with the quality of people we have here, it's a win-win for everyone involved.

"The employees of the two stores combined have a total of about 400 years in the car business," said Slingerland.
