Inspirada celebrates

Super Saturday at Inspirada starts at 9 a.m. today with a grand opening ceremony for Henderson’s two newest parks — Capriola and Potenza — in the master-planned community. The day also includes a preview of Inspirada’s Project Playhouse Pet Edition “Parade of Pet Homes” to benefit HomeAid of Southern Nevada.

After an official “Parklamation” by Henderson City Councilwoman Debra March, Inspirada Builders will open a schedule of free activities in Capriola and Potenza Parks, ranging from pet adoptions with Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Henderson Animal Care and Control, soccer clinics featuring the UNLV Rebel womens soccer team, basketball clinics featuring the UNLV Lady Rebels basketball team and Liberty High School boys basketball team, and a kids’ tennis clinic featuring Inspirada resident and tennis pro Michelle Domanico.

Skateboard demonstrations featuring the Wray Brothers, including the first Hammer Hall of Fame inductee Jeremy Wray along with Jonas Wray, Pat Channita and Paul Luna, will take place in Potenza Park, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Visitors can also tour 18 model homes from KB Home, Pardee Homes and Toll Brothers, where kids’ activities will include climbing wall, remote-control race track, family-friendly games and pumpkin decorating, along with complimentary refreshments throughout the day.

Seven custom pet houses will be on display at Capriola Park as part of HomeAid Southern Nevada’s Project Playhouse Pet Edition. Beazer Homes will have a hospitality tent and the Capriola Café in the park, which features lighted multiuse fields, lighted tennis and basketball courts, picnic ramada, playground, dog park, splash pad, shade structures, open turf and restrooms in 12 acres.

Besides the Wray Brothers skateboard demonstrations, Potenza Park will include bounce houses for kids. The park is five acres and includes lighted basketball courts, picnic ramadas, playground, shade structures, a skate area, resident swimming pools, open turf areas and restrooms.

Both parks were developed by the Inspirada Builders under the Henderson’s developer park program; the city will maintain the parks.
