KB Home to host open house events this weekend

KB Home plans to host open-house events at all of its Las Vegas area communities this weekend.

All communities will be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. today and Sunday, and guests can enjoy complimentary refreshments throughout the day.

One tour stop is KB Home's Talavera community in Mountain's Edge, a master-planned community in the southwestern valley.

Home shoppers have a choice of nine floor plans ranging from 1,373 to 2,568 square feet with as many as five bedrooms and three baths and two-car garages.

The one- and two-story homes at Talavera are designed to be open and airy with spacious great-room living areas opening up to outdoor living areas with optional covered patios, according to company officials.

Flexible den or loft spaces can be used in a variety of ways or converted into an additional bedroom. Pricing starts in the $130,000s.

KB Home's Kingwood Crest offers five floor plans ranging from 1,704 to 2,712 square feet.

Plans include as many as five bedrooms, three baths and two-car garages.

These homes are also designed to be open and flexible, with great rooms located toward the back of the home adjacent to the kitchen. Select plans also allow for dual-master suites or downstairs bedrooms. Pricing starts in the mid $200,000s.

All KB homes in Las Vegas, including those at Talavera and Kingwood Crest, are designed to help homeowners save money on monthly expenses by earning the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star as well as NV Energy's Energy Plus certification.

Features like programmable thermostats, radiant-barrier roofing, low-e windows and efficient heating and cooling systems help keep household utility bills low, according to the homebuilder.

KB Home includes an Energy Performance Guide in all of its new homes. Similar to an MPG sticker on cars, the KB Home rating system provides homebuyers with estimated monthly electric and gas costs for their new home as designed, as well as valuable information on the home's relative energy efficiency when compared to a typical new home or resale home, according to company officials.
