KB to host Henderson open house

KB Home will host an open house at its Versante community in Henderson this weekend from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. today and Sunday at 170 Piedmont Alps St. The builder will offer a complimentary catered lunch for home shoppers between 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Home shoppers can tour three new model homes that show five floor plans, which range from 1,705 to 2,568 square feet. The homes can include as many as five bedrooms, three baths and two-car garages. There are two single-story floor plans and three two-story floor plans available.

The community is near the Las Vegas Beltway and includes a recreational area with a soccer field, playground and gated dog park.

KB Home is one of few home builders that offers solar power systems as an option for homebuyers in the area. While solar panels have become a regular sight in some areas of the country, residential solar power remains scarce in Las Vegas.

"We're excited to take a leading role in bringing solar power systems to the mainstream here in the Las Vegas Valley," said Rob McGibney, KB Home division president. "The potential financial and environmental advantages solar power offers homeowners are tremendous, and something we hope we can deliver to many new happy homeowners here in the area."

The solar power systems can help homeowners reduce monthly energy bills and overall cost of homeownership, while also benefiting the environment, McGibney added.

Even without adding solar power, the homes available at Versante are designed to help homeowners save money on monthly expenses by earning the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star as well as NV Energy's Energy Plus certifications, McGibney said.

Energy-efficient features like programmable thermostats, radiant-barrier roof lining, low-emissivity windows and efficient heating and cooling systems all help keep household utilities low, according to McGibney.

To visit, from the Las Vegas Beltway south, exit at Gibson Road. Head south on Gibson to Paseo Verde Parkway and turn left. Turn right into the community and continue to the sales office on the left.

The sales office is open noon-7 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
