Let’s make pink flamingo yard ornaments a crime, too

The august body that is the Las Vegas City Council will take up an ordinance that would jail bankers who don't maintain foreclosed homes. (I'm not kidding. Take a look for yourself.)

Given the state of financial affairs of the Las Vegas economy, no one would doubt the righteousness of maintaining individual homes to, in turn, maintain the neighborhood viability.

But to make it a jail-able offense?

Let's take the thought behind this ordinance to it's logical extension. Shall we jail individual homeowners who fall to keep their houses up? Or, shall we jail city councilmen who fail to adequately maintain streets, medians and parks? And who will be the abiter of this tyranny?

Hell, if we want to do something about neighborhood killers, let's make it a crime to display yard ornaments -- espcially pink flamingos! -- in the front yard. Can we jail those homeowners, too?
