Mama bear rescues cub from busy highway

It’s awesome seeing motherly instincts in action, especially when it’s a mama bear looking out for her cubs.

Tornado hunter Ricky Forbes and some buddies were traveling on Highway 97 in Kootenay National Park in British Columbia, Canada, this past weekend when they saw a makeshift sign on the side of the road that said bears often appeared on the road.

“You usually don’t see something like that, so we got the camera ready just in case something happened,” Forbes told Global News in Canada.

He said within minutes a baby bear jumped over the barrier looking timid and frightened.

Then in the video you see the mama bear all of a sudden appear, do a quick scan of the situation (is she looking both ways?) then quickly snatch her baby from the street by the top of its head using her teeth.

“That is the coolest thing I have ever seen,” Forbes comments on the video.

And I bet those cubs think they’ve got the coolest mom in the animal kingdom. Even if she’s not too happy at the moment.
