Man claims to be Jesus Christ, attacks woman

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville police say a man claimed to be Jesus Christ and attacked a woman he called the devil.

WDRB-TV in Louisville reported that 52-year-old Colvotte Brooks argued with a judge Monday morning during his arraignment, claiming to be the head of Homeland Security.

Police say Brooks attacked the woman just before 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Police say Brooks assaulted the woman, then threw a glass plate at her head as she crawled across the street.

She suffered an injury to her right cheek which was bleeding and swollen. Police say she was unable to tell the officer her name, and was “very disoriented.”

Brooks was initially charged with second-degree assault. A judge upgraded the charge to attempted murder during Monday’s hearing. Jail records did not list an attorney for Brooks.
