Man dies after getting buried in pile of corn

A Lebanon, Conn., farm worker has died after police said he got buried under a large mound of corn.

Police responded to Square A Farm on Monday afternoon for the report that a pile of milled corn had collapsed on top of a farm employee.

Police said 54-year-old Donald Merchant, of South Windham, was using equipment to move a section of the corn mound when part of it collapsed on top of him.

He was buried by it and was found unresponsive by other farm employees.

He was taken to Windham Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
