Mom’s letter, delivered 45 years later, is a sign pointing to Las Vegas

A Brooklyn woman hesitant to leave the area she grew up in has all the evidence she needs that a move to Las Vegas is the right thing to do.

Susan Heifetz has been considering a move to Las Vegas to be closer to her brother, but has been hesitant to leave Brooklyn, where her parents are buried. But she was shocked recently at what may have been a sign from above, when letters from loved ones that had been sent in 1969 were delivered to her childhood home in Brooklyn.

The current tenant tracked her down and gave her a letter from her mother that had been mailed June 26, 1969. It was sealed with a lipstick kiss.

In the days following, she also received a letter from an ex-boyfriend who had been serving in Vietnam at the time and a birthday card from her brother, both sent in 1969.

The local post office said they have no idea how the letters went missing for so long. Heifetz told CBS New York the letters have helped her in her decision.

“Which is why this is just to me was like 45 years later … we found you! We’re always going to be with you, so don’t worry! Do what you gotta do,’” Heifetz said.
