Monterey at Las Vegas Country Club welcomes first-time buyer

Pride of homeownership is something new to Pam Deegan. As she put the finishing touches on her new home at Monterey at Las Vegas Country Club, she spoke about the process of selecting which floor plan and decor suited her best.

Like many first-time buyers, Deegan said that she was initially uncertain about how to go about owning a home of her own. Those feelings quickly disappeared after she visited Monterey, a condominium community nestled behind the guarded gates of the famed Las Vegas Country Club.

"I moved in with my parents after college and I was a little hesitant to buy my own home. I did a lot of research about the available housing options. I work in the mortgage industry and I knew that this is the time to buy a home," Deegan said. "Monterey caught my eye in the newspaper. I didn't even know Monterey was here, even though I went to high school in Las Vegas. It's a hidden gem within the country club and I am happy that I discovered it. I fell in love with the community the first time I visited."

Upon Deegan's visit to the sales center, she toured the popular St. Andrews model, the floor plan of her new home.

"The St. Andrews model is one of the first that I walked into. It's a very nice home with one bedroom and one bath and it meets my needs perfectly," she said.

"The home that I purchased is in a nice location on the second floor of the building at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. There's a great view of the golf course and the (Las Vegas) Hilton near my building."

Her floor plan is one of 27 different home designs available. The studio, one- and two-bedroom single-level condominiums, and two-story townhomes range from 624 to 1,750 square feet and are priced from $99,000. Select homes offer immediate move-ins.

Architectural highlights may include a private patio or balcony, oversized walk-in closets, formal entry, built-in bookshelves and floor-to-ceiling fireplaces. A furniture package program is a popular design option among buyers.

Like other residents, Deegan's home is located within walking distance of one of Monterey's five resort-style heated swimming pools with hot tubs and sundecks and a barbecue area. The pool closest to Deegan's home is adjacent to the Las Vegas Country Club's world-renown golf course fairways and offers unobstructed views of nearby casino hotels.

"There are a lot of things that I like about Monterey. I like the home itself, the nearby swimming pools, the landscaping. I like just how 'green' it is here with all of the landscaping. I didn't think that you could find a place that is surrounded by so many green trees and plants in Las Vegas like there are at Monterey," she said. "I also like the location. I like living near the Strip and having a lot of things to do nearby. And it's rather close to my work so I don't have much of a commute".

Residents also have access to an onsite fitness center and picnic areas among mature landscaping. Miles of passageways provide residents opportunities for leisurely walks and jogging amid a park-like setting with views of a world-renown golf course.

Deegan is very impressed by the security of the guard-gated community, its design and the overall lifestyle of Monterey.

"Everyone is very nice here. It is very quiet and safe and everyone is friendly. I feel at home and very safe in my new home. I made a good choice by purchasing my first home at Monterey."

To visit Monterey from the Las Vegas Strip, take Sahara Avenue east. Turn right on Paradise Road and left on Karen Avenue. Enter the community through the Las Vegas Country Club Estates gate on Karen Avenue, located between Paradise Road and Maryland Parkway. The attendant in the guard booth will give directions to the sales center. The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
