In addition to homebuilder news, work on the master plan's Nathaniel Jones Park continues. Grading on the 20-acre neighborhood park is being completed; irrigation construction trenching has begun; and the amended soil -- organic material helping establish turf areas -- is being distributed. Expected to open in late 2011, the park will feature amenities along with turf areas and walking trails.
Nathaniel Jones Park is part of more than 500 acres in Mountain's Edge devoted to open space, parks and trail systems with endless avenues for sports, fitness and recreation.
Amid the 80-acre Exploration Park is the signature 2,846-foot-tall Exploration Peak, a restored natural mountain with bicycle trails and walking paths to vantage points offering incredible views of the community and Las Vegas Valley.
Mountain's Edge residents also will benefit from the adjacent 220-acre Mountain's Edge Regional Park. Funding has been allocated for its first phase of picnic facilities with open grass play areas, benches, shade structures, drinking fountains, play amenities, restrooms, parking and 1.5 miles of trails.
