“It’s not the years in your life, it’s the life in your years,” said Sue Simecka, a contestant in the Ms. Senior Nevada Pageant. Described as the “Age of Elegance,” the pageant is open to women 60 and older. Ten women ages 60 to 72 competed in the 28th annual Nevada pageant recently in the South Point showroom. During the “Philosophy of Life” segment of the event, the contestants expressed their visions of how to change the world by looking locally. Emphasizing volunteering, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying life, Kathleen “Kat” Ray, who was crowned Ms. Senior Nevada 2013, said: “Life is like a river; it flows and it says to come flow with me without shame and guilt. It’s time to jump in the river and live like you never lived before.” Ray will represent Nevada in the National Ms. Senior America Pageant Oct. 20-25 in Atlantic City.
