Nevada ranked least ‘American’ state in nation

When you think of what might make a state the most "American," you may think of things related to stereotypes, foreign relations or patriotism — and according to a new ranking, Nevada is the least American state in the nation.

Using too much time and little science, real estate site Estately ranked the states in the nation with very serious, very careful criteria to find out which state best represented the United States of America.

Astronauts, bald eagles, Olympic winners, fast food restaurants, MLB players, homes with firearms, Facebook users with an interest in the nation and Google searches for "Bin Laden dead" — that‘s what America is, in this case.

On almost all fronts, Nevada came in last or nearly last. Nevada has very few eagles, but the most fast food per capita in the nation, according to Estately.

West Virginia was the state that searched for "Bin Laden dead" the most. Wyoming came in first for the most firearms as well as likes of "U.S.A." on Facebook, but tied with Nevada for the least astronauts (meaning none).

The most American state, according to the ranking, was Iowa, followed by Ohio, West Virginia, Alabama and South Dakota. The other few states at the bottom of the list included Utah, Hawaii and Arizona.

Maybe next time we can look at most American flags bought from Wal-Mart, golden retrievers, and apple pies baked per year per capita.
