New show on horizon for fans of Terry Goodkind

Fans of Southern Nevada author Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series soon will have to put down their books and turn on their TVs.
The “Legend of the Seeker” syndicated drama will air at 7 p.m. Saturdays on KVBC-TV, Channel 3 starting Nov. 1.
According to Terry Goodkind’s Web site, the first season of the drama will include 22 one-hour episodes and will cover “Wizard’s First Rule,” the first book in the series.
“Wizard’s First Rule” introduces the characters of Richard Cypher, a woodsman, and the beautiful Kahlan Amnell. I don’t want to give anything away for people who haven’t read the books, but the first one lays the groundwork for all the rest. The series is epic fantasy and all that that entails — magic, wizards, dragons — and some things that it does not — let’s just say this ain’t “Harry Potter.” I suspect they'll have to change some of the content to get it past the censors.
Goodkind says on his Web site that because of the nature of TV syndication, each episode “will be a story in itself.” He says that the TV series will follow the background story of the book, but that there may be additional content that isn’t found in the novel.
“If you love the book just the way it is, then enjoy the book for what it is and come to the TV series prepared to enjoy the show for what it is,” he says.
Although the show will not be a word-for-word re-creation of the novel, Goodkind says, readers can be confidant he will have his eye on production.
Producer “Sam Raimi and his team want to keep the TV series true to my vision, so rest assured that I am going to be intimately involved in the writing of each of the episodes,” he says on his Web site.
