Pardee gets into the giving spirit

Pardee Homes' employees helped make the season brighter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada by collecting toys for the holidays.

"Pardee Homes' has a great legacy of giving back to our community, where we've been building homes for nearly 60 years," said Klif Andrews, Southern Nevada division president, Pardee Homes.

"Whether it is collecting toys for children involved with Make-A-Wish, supporting The Shade Tree Shelter for Homeless Women and Children or building homes through HomeAid Southern Nevada, Pardee, its employees and subcontractors always come through to help."

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Dozens of toys were collected and delivered to the Make-A-Wish offices earlier this month, with the hope of making the holiday season brighter for local children involved with the organization.

In October, Pardee and its subcontractors renovated and refurbished five transitional apartments that enabled five families to move out of local shelters and into their own homes.

Under the banner Project Building Hope at Adams Avenue, Pardee worked with HomeAid Southern Nevada and Lutheran Social Services to complete the project, valued at more than $100,000.

"The real value is much greater than that," said Andrews. "It is neighbors helping neighbors to get back on their feet. That's why Pardee has been a strong supporter of the good works of HomeAid locally as well as nationally."

Pardee also oversaw the $100 million renovation of St. Jude's Ranch for Children in Boulder City, for which the company received the 2008 Governor's Points of Light Award and the Hearthstone Humanitarian Award for Outstanding Philanthropy by a home-building company.

From donating land for schools and building parks in Pardee communities to supporting services for their less fortunate neighbors, community service is at the heart of Pardee Homes, said Andrews.

Pardee has focused its significant charitable efforts on homelessness, demonstrated by the company's support of The Shade Tree Shelter for Homeless Women and Children in Las Vegas as well as HomeAid efforts in Nevada and California.
