PETS: Readers send in photos of their animals

Readers have submitted hundreds of entries to the View’s pets section. And, because we only can feature a few photos each week in the newspaper, we decided to expand the sharing online. We hope you enjoy these extra faces, and remind you to check back each Tuesday for more photos of your best friends.

“Back in November, we adopted two beautiful basset hound littermates, Nellie and Jessie, from Basset Hound Rescue here in Las Vegas,” wrote David and Ann Miller of Anthem. “They have become the loves of our lives.  We previously ... bred these beauties, but due to illness and aging, had to give it up. After missing them, we turned to the basset rescue and they rescued us!”

Peter Helgren of Henderson shared this photo of Lloyd, a 5-year-old Chihuahua. He said Lloyd loves to play with his look-a-like stuffed toy.

“Here is my wonderful pug, Satch,” wrote Sally Freshwater of Henderson. “He won the Pug-O-Rama costume contest in 2002. Satch was a rescue from the pug rescue in Vegas. ... It’s a joy to be owned by a pug.”

Matthew Connors of Las Vegas shared this photo of his dogs. “Hitch the hound dog and Hampton were both rescues from the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina,” he wrote. “We recently moved to Vegas and had to leave behind 20 acres of waterfalls, creeks and lush mountains. The dogs thought we had lost our minds when we moved to a place with no grass and prickly plants. But once they figured out not to mess with the cactus plants, they couldn’t wait to get on the trail! When they aren’t chasing jackrabbits or bouldering, they can be found covered in a blanket of dust napping in the sun. They are happy desert doggies!”

Suzanne Chiu of Las Vegas sent this photo of her dog Boba. “She is an 8- month-old papillon who has so much energy that usually when I take a picture of her, she is just a blur. Here she was actually still for a minute — probably because I had her toy and was holding it hostage. She’s only 13 pounds, but in her mind, she thinks she is the biggest dog on the block.”
