PETS: Readers send in photos of their animals

Readers have submitted hundreds of entries to the View’s pets section. Because we only can feature a few photos each week in the newspaper, we decided to expand the sharing online. We hope you enjoy these extra faces, and remind you to check back each Tuesday for more photos of your best friends.

James and June Andrews of Henderson shared this photo of Brandi celebrating her first birthday with her brother Lil Bit and favorite toy, Mr. Beaver. “They got into the cake after the camera was put away.”

Jackie Michel of Henderson shared this photo of Rudy, her 6-month-old Chihuahua mix. “I’m one of my mom and dad’s best friends. They rescued me when I was abandoned at 3 months old, gave me a loving home, my very own warm bed, a crate for traveling, potty training and plenty of daily exercise. However, my very favorite parts of each day and evening are being held in my mom and dad’s arms and laying on their laps.”

Paula Cook of Las Vegas shared this photo of Simon, her Jack Russell terrier. “I picked him out about three years ago from Lied Animal Shelter. I had first seen him on their website. He was already named Simon. I went to Lied and walked and walked through all their buildings. I was ready to give up on finding him when I saw his sweet little face. All the other dogs in that building were barking and jumping, but little Simon was sitting in the middle of his big cage, just starring at me ever so sweetly. I knew I had to take him home with me.”

“This is Zander,” wrote Janine Nissl. “We have to fight over who gets the newspaper first. He usually wins.”
