Planet Hyundai Centennial greets first buyer at new site

Las Vegas resident Bill Glaze studied glowing reports about Hyundai earlier this year and became the first buyer March 1 at the newly opened Planet Hyundai Centennial at 6200 Centennial Center Blvd. in the northwest valley.

"It was a real pleasure doing business with the people here," said Glaze, a 65-year-old, 17-year resident of Las Vegas who purchased a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. "Everything was very professional and everyone knew what they were doing and that was great, especially considering that it was the first day the dealership had been open."

In particular, Glaze lauded his sales consultant Paul Perona, a 26-year veteran of the car business.

"He knew his product very well and he was very professional," said Glaze. "He was not pushy at all and he let me make up my own mind. In fact, I wasn't even going to buy today."

Glaze said he bought the Elantra for several reasons.

"Along with the Consumer Reports' story, the car gets great gas mileage (29 city and 40 highway) and it is very sleek with fluid lines. It looks like it's moving when it's standing still."

Glaze's vehicle has leather interior.

"The interior is very nice," he said. "The Elantra is very roomy and has plenty of head room. It also has heated seats."

The Elantra has a 1.8 liter dual overhead cam engine with 170 horsepower.

Glaze, who works security at Aria at CityCenter, said he has plans to drive the car to Marina del Rey, Calif., where family members live.

"I took the car out on the highway to check out the acceleration during the test drive," Glaze said. "It performed great and had a lot of pep. Not only that, but it was also very quiet. It's truly amazing what Hyundai has done with their vehicles. The car has just gotten better and better and now Hyundai is the car to beat.

"It is a very solid car and you cannot beat the 10-year, 100,000 mile warranty on the powertrain; five-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and roadside assistance."

Perona said being the first sales consultant to record a transaction at the new dealership was exciting.

"This has been the time of my life to sell the first car from this dealership to a great customer," said Perona . "And these sales will keep on going, that's for sure."
