Planet Hyundai Centennial showcases custom 2011 Equus

A 2011 Hyundai Equus just became even more impressive after being customized by the staff at Planet Hundai Centennial.

The Equus is a four-door sedan that represents Hyundai's entry into the luxury automobile market. Powered by a 385-horsepower 4.6-liter engine, the Equus looks and handles like other vehicles that are twice the price.

Newly added to further enhance one of its luxury Equus models, Planet Hyundai added a custom handmade grill, a Jaguar-like hood ornament and 22-inch wheels and tires. The vehicle is the only one of its kind with the custom grill.

The luxury sedan ranges in price from $58,000-$65,000, according to Planet Hyundai Centennial General Manager Skip Shakely.

Shakely said the success of the Equus has been immediate.

"The Equus just came out this year and it has sold very well," he said. "The car has caught on quickly, especially when people discover the quality of the Hyundai and the fact that it has no maintenance costs for five years or 60,000 miles. In addition, we have the 10-year, 100,000 warranty included in the purchase. The only thing you would ever have to buy for this car is the tires."

Shakely said one model of the Equus is loaded with features including climate control, massaging seats and a cooler in the center armrest of the rear seats. In addition, the back seat offers a built-in video system.

"Even more interesting is the fact that the owner's manual and all other important information, such as service, are all done through an included iPad," Shakley said.

The Equus also comes with a dealer-provided valet when the car needs servicing.

Sales consultant Chris Rooney has already sold two Equus models. He is amazed at what the Equus offers and the services provided with the purchase or lease of this vehicle.

"It's a great car," Rooney said. "When people call and want to look at this car, we take it off the lot and take it to the house or their place of employment to show the car."
