Planet Hyundai names new general manager

The car business has numerous stories of successful executives who have risen to their positions after starting out on the ground floor. Chance Slingerland, general manager of Planet Hyundai Centennial, is among those who climbed the ladder en route to a managerial position.

Slingerland, who has lived in Las Vegas since 1993, earned his latest promotion after he worked as service manager for Planet Hyundai Centennial and Planet Hyundai Sahara. His car business career started in 1989 when he became a parts driver in Southern California.

The leadership role is a natural for Slingerland, who said he eats, sleeps and breathes what Hyundai represents.

“No other manufacturer can match Hyundai’s quality, value on the dollar and warranty,” Slingerland said. “Hyundai has done an excellent job with its commitment to quality and its very attractive pricing on new vehicles. Hyundai backs up its claims, that’s for sure. And I’m proud to be a part of such a progressive automobile manufacturer.

“It makes a big difference to our employees and our customers knowing our owners live in Las Vegas and are active in the daily operations of our stores,” Slingerland said.

Ron Coury, Planet Hyundai’s co-owner, said: “Chance has been such a strong contributor to our organization since our entry into the Las Vegas market in 2010. It is great to be able to reward someone for their solid performance with a promotion like this. Chance has demonstrated an outstanding level of dedication to duty, attention to detail and customer service. So this appointment as our northwest location’s general manager was well-earned and deserved.”

Although Slingerland is in a key position, he remains a down-to-earth individual focused on maintaining a solid working team. He said he is a team player and his years working in various capacities have produced the knowledge necessary to understand the big picture.

“Every single department is important. It’s vital that all departments run well and work with one another. We need to be cohesive and understanding of one another’s goals and responsibilities.

“I’m thrilled beyond description with the wonderful team that we have at Centennial Hyundai,” he said. “It’s a terrific opportunity and I couldn’t be happier.”

Planet Hyundai Centennial is part of a group of local dealerships in the Las Vegas Valley that includes Planet Hyundai Sahara, 7150 W. Sahara Ave., and Planet Hyundai Used Car Super Store, 7100 W. Sahara Ave.
