Poll results posted Saturday in the race for Nevada governor shows Republican Brian Sandoval continuing to pull away from Democrat Rory Reid.
The poll from Rasmussen shows Sandoval has support from 58 percent of likely voters, compared to 33 percent for Reid.
It’s the highest level of support shown yet for Sandoval, who so far has been cruising with a large lead despite Reid’s success raising campaign money.
A compilation of polls by Real Clear Politics shows Sandoval leads by an average of 16 percentage points.
The results show the Reid campaign is heading in the wrong direction since late July, when a Rasmussen poll showed a 10 percentage point deficit.
The new Rasmussen poll also includes results from “leaners”, people who haven’t made a decision but are leaning one way or the other.
According to the pollster, results from leaners become more important as election day nears.
When leaners are included, 60 percent of likely voters prefer Sandoval to 36 percent for Reid.
The survey included responses from 750 likely voters and reported a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
