Pulte Homes plans to build ‘green’ neighborhood in Summerlin

Pulte Homes recently signed as the first production home builder to participate in the Southern Nevada Green Building Partnership program, which was established to help builders design and construct more environmentally sensitive, or "green," new homes in Las Vegas. The home builder will launch its participation in the program with the design and construction of its Villa Trieste at West Park neighborhood, located in Summerlin Centre.
Summerlin has long been regarded as an environmentally sensitive community, but having the home builders incorporate environmentally friendly design and construction into individual neighborhoods throughout the community is taking the commitment one step further -- and it's a step in the right direction, according to Kevin Orrock, top division president for The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties and developer of Summerlin.
"Smart and responsible development is the core of the Summerlin master plan and has been since its inception, but our efforts have improved with time," Orrock said. "New technology and refined conservation programs have enhanced our ability to create a community that respects the resources of the Las Vegas Valley. We've made significant strides over the years, and certainly Pulte's addition of building green homes in Summerlin is one giant leap forward. We're pleased to have such an environmentally conscious and forward-thinking home builder in our community."
In addition to being green-certified, the Southern Nevada Water Authority has also designated Villa Trieste as a Water Smart Home Community because of its outstanding water conservation and efficiency features.
Homeowners at Villa Trieste will benefit from lower operating costs because of the reduced use of water, electricity and gas; and a higher level of indoor air quality because of the guideline requirements for environmentally sensitive building materials and ventilation systems, according to Orrock.
Homes at Villa Trieste range from 2,404 to 2,838 square feet with prices starting in the high $400,000s.
Villa Trieste is located in Summerlin Centre, a 1,300-acre mixed-use village that is home to dozens of residential neighborhoods, parks, retail centers, restaurants, schools, office parks and the $1 billion Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa. Future plans for the village include a nearly 2 million-square-foot regional retail center, more than 250,000 square feet of office space and a central plaza that will host public and civic events.
Summerlin began to take shape in 1990 and is a 22,500-acre master planned community located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley.
Summerlin is home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.
Single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and lofts are available. Prices range from the low $200,000s to more than $2 million. Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s.
Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the low $1,000s.
