Real estate exec uses multifaceted Hyundai for work, pleasure

When the economy went south in 2008, veteran real estate executive George Head knew that it was time to purchase a car that was economical, functional and worked well in his business.

With his 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe getting about 22 miles to the gallon, the 61-year-old Head has an all-around vehicle with enough room to take clients all over the city while also being able to go on long trips in comfort.

Head purchased a preowned certified Hyundai capitalizing on a lower price while still getting a quality vehicle.

"It has everything that I need for business and my personal life," said Head, who purchased the vehicle from Planet Hyundai, 7150 W. Sahara Ave. "The car was 2 years old when I got it, but it was like brand-new."

Like so many other real estate executives who have seen the good times of the business, Head's list of former vehicles has included a Jaguar, two Cadillacs and a Mercedes during the past 15 years. The broker-sales manager for Prudential Americana Group Realtors' Green Valley office, Head puts an estimated 20,000 miles a year on his vehicle, so his automobile is vitally important.

"I don't need the big luxury car anymore," he said. "The Santa Fe has everything I need. It has a much lower sticker price, fuel economy, it looks good and it's functional.

"My clients have also been very impressed when they get into the car. I get lots of compliments every time I have clients ride with me."

Head drove the Santa Fe to Ensenada, Mexico, a couple of weeks ago.

"We had four of us, along with the luggage, and it was a great trip," said Head. "It was very comfortable.

"I'll be going to Utah during the summer and the fact that the Hyundai has such excellent air conditioning is also a key factor."

Planet Hyundai co-owner Ron Coury, who also operates Planet Hyundai Centennial at 6200 Centennial Center Blvd. in the northwest valley, said the two dealerships have excellent selections of used vehicles throughout the year.

"We go through every preowned vehicle with a fine-toothed comb," Coury said. "As George discovered, our customers can get a very good deal with the purchase of a preowned vehicle."
