Reid on March jobs report: “Move in the right direction but we need to do much more”

Reacting to reports that the unemployment rate remained at 9.7 percent while employers added 162,000 jobs in March, Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., put out the following statement:
“Our economy continues to move in the right direction, but we need to do much more to fully recover. That is why we will continue to focus on passing legislation that puts Americans back to work and helps small businesses thrive again.
“With so many families in Nevada and across the country still struggling to find work and make ends meet, it is imperative that Senate Republicans stop blocking the extension of critical unemployment insurance and health benefits – their obstruction endangers the economic certainty of millions of families.
“Senate Democrats know that today’s positive signs are important. But what is more important is that we not let up on our job creation efforts until every American who wants a job can find one and our middle class families are again strong.”
