Rescue nonprofit puts on benefit for the dogs
A Home 4 Spot Animal Rescue held a benefit July 28 at Tommy Rocker's Cantina & Grill to support its efforts to provide foster care and medicine to abandoned dogs.
The nonprofit volunteer organization began operations in March 2009. Since that time, the group reports it has saved more than 1,600 dogs from being euthanized. Since 2012, it has raised more than $125,000 for the medical treatment of animals that otherwise would have been killed.
A Home 4 Spot's veterinarians, trainers and foster homes work together to ensure successful rehabilitation, even for high-risk dogs with behavioral issues.
Dogs that are adopted from A Home 4 Spot are spayed or neutered, microchipped and brought up-to-date on shots. They live in foster homes until their adoption.
Arriving partygoers were greeted at the door by the organization's representatives Stephanie Meyer and Alexia Gross.
Opportunity tickets could be purchased for various baskets.
Among the guests were Robert Benavenete, Jen and Brice Henderson, Chastity Lynn, Cheryl Prater and Melissa Palmisano. Also attending were Dani Daniel, a talk-show host, tribute artist and comedian, and Barbara Brighton, who is known for her Joan Rivers impersonation.
The event's special entertainment was coordinated by actor, screenwriter, entertainer and party host Brent Mukai.
Performers included comedians Paul Scally, who appears at the Downtown Grand; Charlie Stone, who has performed at Planet Hollywood; Geoff Grant and John Hilder.
Providing the music were vocalist Philena Carter, rapper Jackie G and DJ Doug Farra. The promoter was Paul Tumpson.
Also seen enjoying the evening were Darlene Zuodar, Gary Sax, Kathryn Brinkley, Ninon de Vere De Rosa, April Kagan, Tiffani Foote, David Rosen, Rebecca Anderson, Denise Kaminsky, Beverly and Scott Fulmer, and Laurence "LJ" Harness.
In addition to special events, A Home 4 Spot offers twice-monthly adoption events and operates a thrift store to support its efforts to help dogs.
