R&R Partners parts ways with Nevada Mining Association

The influential advertising and lobbying firm R&R Partners has ended its relationship with the Nevada Mining Association, both organizations have confirmed.

The split comes just days before the opening of the 76th session of the Nevada Legislature, a session that is sure to include talk of higher mining taxes to lessen the impact of budget cuts on education and services for the needy, disabled and mentally ill.

Tim Crowley, president of the Nevada Mining Association, said it was R&R's decision to end the relationship.

"We've certainly enjoyed and appreciated having them," said Crowley, specifically citing R&R president and principal Pete Ernaut.

"Pete Ernaut in particular is one of the finest political minds in the state," he said.

Ernaut described the split as "amicable", adding "We enjoyed representing such an important industry for over ten years."

Ernaut, a Republican who is close friends with and has advised Gov. Brian Sandoval, retains a long list of lobbying clients that includes mining, energy, telecom, gambling, transportation, insurance, liquor and medical interests.

Crowley says the mining association will take its time hiring new public relations consultants.
