Sheldon Adelson says he’ll support Donald Trump

Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson said Thursday he will support Donald Trump now that the billionaire businessman has become the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee.

“Yes, I’m a Republican, he’s a Republican,” Adelson said in a brief interview with the New York Times. “He’s our nominee. Whoever the nominee would turn out to be, any one of the 17 — he was one of the 17. He won fair and square.”

Adelson made the comments while at a gala dinner in Manhattan for the World Values Network, a Jewish organization.

Meanwhile, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry endorsed Trump on Thursday and told CNN he is open to being his running mate.

In September, Perry was the first member of the initially crowded Republican field to drop out of the 2016 White House race, following a failed bid in the 2012 race.

The longest-serving governor in Texas history had languished near the bottom of the 17-strong Republican presidential pack since entering the current race in June.
