SHOOTING STARS EXTRA: Begley stalls (temporarily) on the road to Vegas

  Most of us have been here: car trouble driving through the desert. But most of us haven't had TV cameras along for the ride.
  For actor/activist Ed Begley Jr., however, it's all in a day's work.
  Begley headlines the Planet Green reality series "Living With Ed," which chronicles the actor's day-to-day, eco-friendly life with his wife, actress Rachelle Carson. On Thursday, Begley and three "Living With Ed" colleagues were on the road to Las Vegas on Interstate 15 when a vehicular breakdown hit a crew van.
  During a break in Barstow, Calif., when equipment and passengers were consolidated in one vehicle — a Toyota Prius hybrid getting 47.4 miles per gallon (or 190 miles per gallon if you factor in all four passengers, Begley figures) — the "Living With Ed" tour resumed its northward journey, Begley noted in an on-the-road interview.
  Scheduled stops include the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas Friday and an energy symposium in Pahrump Saturday.
