SHOOTING STARS EXTRA: ‘Who’s Got Jokes?’ time in Las Vegas
April 6, 2009 - 11:11 am
These days, we all could use a good laugh — which makes it prime time for "Who's Got Jokes?"
Starting Tuesday at the Luxor, TV One's stand-up comedy competition checks in for four nights of shooting.
Saturday's finale is sold out, but tickets still are available for 5 and 8:30 p.m. shows Tuesday and Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday. (At least they were available at blog time — check out www.whosgotjokes.com to order tickets.)
The show's fourth season features 24 contestants from across America competing for the title — and a chance to host a TV One comedy special. And despite the Las Vegas setting, the contenders must keep it clean during the competition.
Comedian and actor Bill Bellamy, pictured at right, returns as host, along with Tommy Mikal Ford as the “Croupier of Comedy” and Rodney Perry as the “Man on the Street.”
During the show, a rotating panel of “real people” judges will vote on for the comedian they consider the funniest, while celebrity mentors and judges will school contestants on how to bring their A-game to the Vegas stage. Rotating celebrity judges include boxers Laila Ali and Evander Holyfield, actresses Wendy Raquel Robinson and Terri J. Vaughn, while comedian (and Strip headliner) George Wallace serves as celebrity mentor.
And during Saturday's finale, home viewers may vote for their favorite comic via text messaging — or online at www.TVoneonline.com.
