Staszko doubles up on Heinz to avoid elimination

Martin Staszko decided he wasn’t done.

The 36-year-old native of the Czech Republic pushed all in with his last 21.525 million after Germany’s Pius Heinz raised to 2.1 million on the night’s 156th hand.

Heinz’s pocket sixes seemed superior to Staszko’s ace of spades, 8 of clubs.

Until the flop.

The flop came down 8 of spades, 8 of hearts and 5 of spades to give Staszko a a set of 8s that held the turn and river cards.

Staszko successfully doubled up and American Ben Lamb is now the short stack with four players remaining.

At the break, Heinz led with 73.8 million — at one point he had 98 million — and American Matt Giannetti was in second with 56 million. Staszko has 44.5 million and Lamb has 31.6 million.
