Stolen car crashes into Wash. daycare center

Seattle, WA — “It sounded like scaffolding crashing!”

That’s what one neighbor said after a car crashed into a building in downtown Seattle early Thursday morning.

Seattle Police are investigating the crash, which happened around 2:15 a.m., reportedly damaging a daycare business inside the building.

Police said that a witness saw the car crash into the ground floor of building in the 1800 block of 8th Ave., near the U.S. Federal Building. The witness called 911 and described seeing three people fleeing from the scene on foot.

Seattle firefighters responded to the crash to put out a small fire inside the daycare. Many of the building’s residents were evacuated but no one was hurt.

Seattle Police verified that the car involved in the crash had recently been stolen in a nearby city. Police are continuing to search for the three people seen leaving the scene of the crash.
