GOODIE TWO SHOES ROCKIN’ WALK SET FOR OCT. 12
The Goodie Two Shoes Foundation’s fifth annual Rockin’ Walk is planned from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 12. Participants must park at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive, where shuttle service will be provided to the walk location of TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle. Shuttle service is set to begin at 8 a.m. and run every 15 minutes. Parking at TPC Summerlin will be available only by permit.
Participants can choose their walking course: a 1-mile mixed hole, the 2.5-mile back-nine or 5-mile 18-hole. Live entertainment and prizes are planned, along with giveaways and goodie bags for all walkers, while supplies last.
Early registration is available through Sept. 15 and includes a free T-shirt. The early registration fee for those 18 or older is $30 ($35 after Sept. 15). Walkers 3 to 17 can register for $15 ($20 after Sept. 15). To register, visit tinyurl.com/pu956yu.

NEVADA BALLET THEATRE ANNOUNCES PRE-PROFESSIONAL DANCE PROGRAM
The Nevada Ballet Theatre, 1651 Inner Circle Drive, announces the addition of its pre-professional dance program to its school, the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre. Joining its established pre-professional ballet program, the all new pre-professional dance program will offer classes such as Tumbling for Dance, Extreme Stretch and Improvisation, taught by performers with Broadway, TV and film credits and international teaching experience.
The new program also will premiere the ANBT Competition Team, designed for students who wish to explore a commercial dance path.
Fall classes for all students are taking place now, and auditions for the ANBT Competition Team are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sept. 13 for ages 7 to 13.

BRANDEIS NATIONAL COMMITTEE TO MEET SEPT. 16
The Las Vegas chapter of the Brandeis National Committee plans to host a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 16 at Bear’s Best Golf Club, 11111 W. Flamingo Road.
Sandra Cosgrove, a history professor at the College of Southern Nevada and president of the League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley, is slated to be the keynote speaker on the topic of various legislative and ballot issues.
The cost is $35. Proceeds will go to the Sustaining the Mind campaign for research into neurodegenerative diseases and scholarships for students in the sciences at Brandeis University.

TEDDY BEAR 5K RUN SET FOR SEPT. 20 AT TIVOLI VILLAGE
The annual Teddy Bear 5K Run, supporting the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation, is slated for 8 a.m. Sept. 20 at Tivoli Village, 440 S. Rampart Blvd.
The run raises money to provide medical grants to help pay for medical treatments, services or equipment not covered or fully covered by a family’s commercial insurance. Qualifying families can receive up to $5,000 to help pay for medical services and equipment, such as speech therapy, surgeries, prescriptions and hearing aids.
The run is open to individuals and teams. Family-friendly games also are planned.

The Women’s Club of Summerlin has slated its annual charity event for 6 p.m. Oct. 9 at the JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd. Expect heavy hors d’oeuvres, a raffle, a silent auction, dancing and live music provided by Ronnie Lee Twist and The Future Cats.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Project 150, a nonprofit organized in December 2011 when founders learned of 150 homeless high school students in need of support over the holidays. The effort has expanded to helping more than 1,100 homeless and disadvantaged students in Las Vegas Valley high schools.

PARTNERS PROGRAM GRANTS TAKING APPLICATIONS THROUGH NOV. 19
The city of Las Vegas’ annual Youth Neighborhood Association Partners Program grant application process is open through Nov. 19. It offers grants for up to $1,000 for youths to create and implement neighborhood-based service learning projects of their own design.

SUMMERLIN HOSPITAL DISPLAYING SCULPTURES
Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, 657 N. Town Center Drive, is displaying 10 sculptures designed by Summerlin-based sculptor Dorit Schwartz and painted by professional local artists as a fundraiser for the Las Vegas chapter of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The artists give “life” through their one-of-a-kind vision.
The sculptures debuted at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts this year and are now on display in the hospital’s Healing Garden, at the front entrance and the surgery entrance.
