Summerlin celebrates Amado’s grand opening today

Summerlin will celebrate the grand opening of its new neighborhood, Amado, at a spring-inspired event, Spring Bloom, today and Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Activities include model home tours; spring teas and cookies from the Culinary Training Academy; fruit and vegetable carving demonstrations by Le Cordon Bleu Chef Chanh Boupha; floral demonstrations by Joanne's Designs; and a variety of children's activities such as face painting, balloon art, bounce house and visits with Summerlin Sam, the community's jackrabbit mascot.

Amado is located in Summerlin's newest and most southern village developed, The Mesa. To visit Amado from the Las Vegas Beltway, exit westbound on Russell Road, turn right on Mesa Park Drive and left on Hawk Springs Road.

According to Nikkole McCartin, director of marketing for Summerlin, the events are designed to showcase the livability of Amado's homes and its picturesque mountainside location.

"Amado's spacious floor plans, accompanied with its location adjacent to the Spring Mountains, make it the perfect place for living and entertaining," she said.

Amado offers 14 home floor plans by Pulte Homes and Richmond American Homes.

Pulte Homes offers six two-story home floor plans ranging from 1,810 to 2,575 square feet in two home collections: Ventana Amado and Terraza Amado. Prices start in the low $200,000s.

Richmond American Homes offers eight one- and two-story home floor plans ranging from 1,450 to 3,050 square feet in two home collections: Amado Ridge and Amado Crest. Prices start in the high $100,000s.

Upon completion, Amado will be home to more than 500 homes, a neighborhood park and pool area and walking trails.

Other amenities located in The Mesa village include The Mesa Park, a 19-acre village park, which is home to three Little League baseball fields; tennis and basketball courts; and playground area. The village also has Bishop Gorman High School, a 35.5-acre 187,000-square-foot co-ed Catholic college preparatory school. Future plans include additional neighborhoods and a house of worship.
