Summerlin Sparks Fourth Of July Parade

Nearly 40,000 valley residents celebrated Independence Day at the 14th annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade, one of Las Vegas' largest Fourth of July parade. The record-setting crowd enjoyed more than 60 entries including traditional floats, giant helium balloons, bands and performing groups and children's favorite storybook characters.

KLAS Channel 8 TV personalities, Sherry Swensk and Dave Courvoisier, and Melanie and Michael in the Morning from Sunny 106.5 FM Radio were this year's parade emcees.

Summerlin and The Howard Hughes Corporation were title sponsors of the 2008 parade and Securitas was the elite sponsor. Other sponsors included Home News Community Newspapers of Nevada, General Growth Properties, Inc., Hutchison & Steffen, Towbin Automotive, Summerlin Hospital & Medical Center, Shook & Stone, Suncoast, Great Harvest Bread Company, ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance, Las Vegas Color & Graphics, Summerlin Children's Forum, DLP Services, Friendly Ford, Nevada Illumination and Shift Four.

The annual parade is coordinated by The Summerlin Council, the non-profit division of the Summerlin Community Association dedicated to the social, cultural and recreational enrichment of residents.
