TRAVEL CLUB TO MEET NOV. 27 AT THE TAP HOUSE

The Las Vegas Singles Social and Travel Club for mature singles plans to meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Tap House, 5589 W. Charleston Blvd. The groups meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except in December, when no meetings are scheduled.

Attendees should plan to arrive at 6 p.m. to mix and mingle and get food in restaurant. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. to go over the business agenda, host guest speakers, talk and plan day trips and in-state/out state and international trips.

MORNING ZOO TOY DRIVE TO BENEFIT HELP OF SOUTHERN NEVADA

The 14th annual Chet Buchanan & The Morning Zoo Toy Drive is slated to run Nov. 29 through Dec. 10. Buchanan plans to host the drive at NV Energy, 6226 W. Sahara Ave., living on the 30-foot scaffolding throughout the entire drive. HELP of Southern Nevada will then distribute the toys to youths in need.

The Summerlin North Little League spring season is open for registration. The spring season starts in mid-February and concludes with post-season tournaments in early June.

NJB GIRLS BASKETBALL CLUB ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The NJB Girls Basketball club is accepting applications. There are beginner and advanced levels for girls in fifth through seventh grades, as well as for boys in fourth through seventh grades.

WHOLE FOODS MARKET ANNOUNCES GRAB & GIVE PROGRAM

Whole Foods Market announces its Grab & Give program. Through Dec. 31, shoppers can get into the spirit of giving by purchasing and donating meals and other essentials for families in need.

Whole Foods Market at 8855 W. Charleston Blvd. will allow shoppers to choose to make a donation of $5, $10, $25 or more to provide a full meal for a family of four, including healthy options from Whole Foods Market's 365 Everyday Value line of products.

Additionally, shoppers can make a $5 donation for personal hygiene items.

As donations come in, Whole Foods Market stores will give them to partner nonprofit charities, which will distribute the items to local families in need.

IMPACT LAS VEGAS SEEKS 100 WOMEN TO JOIN NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION

Impact Las Vegas, a new Southern Nevada nonprofit group, is seeking 100 women who are motivated to make a difference in the community to join the organization by the end of the year.

Impact Las Vegas is a nonprofit women's giving circle based in Las Vegas. Membership consists of women who donate $1,000 each year by Dec. 31.

Membership donations are pooled from a minimum of 100 members to fund an annual $100,000 grant to a Southern Nevada nonprofit organization in one of five focus areas: culture, education, environment, family or health and wellness.

Once the minimum 100-member threshold is reached, 100 percent of member donations are returned to the community in the form of a grant. In June 2013, Impact Las Vegas members will each cast one vote to determine the nonprofit grant recipient(s) for that year.

WALKER FURNITURE SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS PROGRAM

Walker Furniture is accepting nomination letters on behalf of Clark County individuals and families for its 19th annual Home for the Holidays program, which supplies free furniture to families that have faced financial difficulty.

CEO Larry Alterwitz is expanding the program to assist 28 families. HELP of Southern Nevada will identify which nominated families display the most genuine need for new furnishings.

Past recipients have included: single-parent households facing financial difficulty; families with children suffering from physical or mental disorders; families that have lost their homes and belongings to fires; and families that have been affected by illness, domestic violence or sexual abuse.

YMCA OFFERING DISCOUNT MEMBERSHIP FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Join the YMCA of Southern Nevada Friday and Saturday to save up to $75 on a new individual or family membership.

The offer is good at all YMCA of Southern Nevada locations: the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane; the Durango Hills Community Center YMCA, 3521 N. SENIORS ASKED TO SIGN UP FOR L'DOR V'DOR HANUKKAH PARTY

The L'Dor V'Dor Hanukkah party is planned from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Dec. 4 at Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane.

Homebound and facility-bound seniors throughout Las Vegas are invited. This event carries forward the L'Dor V'Dor tradition into its 12th year and provides a free, catered dinner and entertainment to seniors. Individual seniors attend from their own homes. Groups of seniors attend from more than 20 living facilities around the Las Vegas Valley. More than 200 seniors are expected.

Entertainment will be by students from the Sandra and Stanley Mallin Early Childhood Center, doing their Hanukkah program. After the entertainment, Gustav Mauler, chef and owner of Spiedini Ristorante, will cater the luncheon with traditional latkes.

Guests are picked up by buses from the residential facilities; individual rides are provided for those who are unable to get there on their own. L'Dor V'Dor provides both forms of transportation at no cost.

WORKSHOP PLANNED FOR WOMEN COPING WITH DIVORCE

The Women's Institute for Financial Education plans its next monthly workshop for 8 a.m. Dec. 8 at the Women's Group Empowerment Center, 6445 S. Tenaya Way, Suite 120.

WIFE has been helping women cope with the stresses of divorce for 25 years by providing help with financial planning, realistic goal setting and strategies to attain long-term goals. After the seminar, women are invited to speak one-on-one with presenters and can also schedule future appointments for more detailed information.

The workshops last approximately four hours on every second Saturday of the month. Coffee, water and snacks are available.

NEVADA PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSOCIATION MAKES DONATION TO FOOD BANKS

The Nevada Physical Therapy Association's fourth annual Great Peanut Butter & Jelly Challenge raised 1,608 pounds of peanut butter and jelly throughout the state of Nevada in October. To celebrate National Physical Therapy Month, 528 physical therapists and students participated. In Las Vegas, 21 physical therapy clinics, programs and facilities were involved.

The food was donated to Three Square food bank and Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

WINDER FARMS RAISES FUNDS FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

Winder Farms raised more than $2,400 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure during a fundraiser through sales of one of its strawberry milk products. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Utah and Las Vegas affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to support breast cancer screening, treatment programs and research.
