BUSINESS NETWORK MIXER SET FOR TODAY
The Las Vegas Business Network Mixer is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive. The theme is baby boomers, as more than 600,000 of them are in Las Vegas, and many will have businesses in the exhibiting area. Visit the Chefs Corner for food samples and expect $2,000 in raffle drawing prizes.

BEREAVEMENT GROUP TO MEET WEDNESDAY AT TEMPLE BETH SHOLOM
A bereavement group plans to meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the social hall of Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane. Meetings are scheduled on alternating Wednesdays. Another one is planned for Jan. 23.
The purpose of the gathering is to help widows and widowers understand the process of grieving and prepare for the lifestyle changes. For more information, call 702-804-1333.
CHABAD OF SUMMERLIN SET TO HOST SHABBAT EVENTS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
Shabbaton Weekend is planned Friday and Saturday at the Chabad of Summerlin, 2640 Regatta Drive.
The slated guest speaker is Rabbi Shlomo Bistritzky. Sessions planned include lectures and a Shabbat lunch with traditional kiddush and cholent. Children's programs are planned to run simultaneously during the Friday night lecture. All are welcome, and no prior affiliation is necessary.
The Shabbat Friday night meal is $30 for adults and $18 for children 12 or younger. Shabbat lunch is a $10 donation. The Saturday night event is an $18 donation, or become a sponsor for $300.

TRAVEL FAIR COMING SATURDAY TO SUMMERLIN LIBRARY
Travel Fair: Your Vacation Awaits is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.
The day is slated to include presentations on cruises, vacationing at home, budget travel, making the most of discount travel services, fun family vacations and traveling abroad. A special workshop on travel writing and journal writing will also be offered.

ROHR JEWISH LEARNING INSTITUTE PLANS FOUR-WEEK COURSE
The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute plans to begin its new six-session winter course Living with Integrity: Navigating Everyday Ethical Dilemmas Jan. 20.
Rabbi Tzvi Bronchtain of the Chabad of Southern Nevada is slated to conduct the sessions in Summerlin and Green Valley. The Chabad of Summerlin, 2640 Regatta Drive, plans to host the course from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays Jan. 23 through March 13.
Packed with real-life scenarios, Living with Integrity invites students to articulate their own opinions while providing practical Talmudic wisdom to help them navigate through life's ethical challenges. Living with Integrity is a Continuing Legal Education-accredited course.
All courses are open to the public, and attendees need not be affiliated with a particular synagogue, temple or other house of worship.

SAHARA WEST LIBRARY TO HOST GENEALOGY SERIES
The Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern Nevada plans to present "Exploring Your Family's History: Genealogy Series" from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
Three lectures are set to be covered by speaker Steven Morse. The scheduled topic for the first lecture is One-Step Webpages: A Potpourri of Genealogical Search Tools. The second lecture is slated to cover One-Step Webpages: A Hodgepodge of Lesser-Known Gems. The third is planned to be From DNA to Genetic Genealogy: Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask.
Morse is best-known as the architect of the Intel 8086 (the grandfather of today's Pentium processor), which sparked the PC revolution 30 years ago, and is the creator of the award-winning One-Step website.

MOUNTAINVIEW HOSPITAL TO HOST SESSION ON BARIATRIC SURGERY
Free bariatric (weight loss) surgery education programs are planned in the coming weeks at MountainView Hospital, 3100 N. Tenaya Way.
The sessions are scheduled for the first-floor classroom at 10 a.m. Saturday, 6 p.m. Jan. 23, 10 a.m. Feb. 9, 6 p.m. Feb. 27, 10 a.m. March 9, 6 p.m. March 27, 10 a.m. April 13 and 6 p.m. April 24.
Through the sessions are free, attendees can learn such things as bariatric surgery options, who is an appropriate candidate for surgery and what is involved in the surgery and recovery process.

YMCA OFFERING DISCOUNT ON NEW MEMBERSHIPS
The YMCA of Southern Nevada encourages people of all ages to "live better, do it together" in 2013 with a savings initiative. Individuals or families can save up to $75 on a new membership when they join by Jan. 31. No coupon is required for the offer, which is good at all YMCA of Southern Nevada locations: the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane; the Durango Hills Community Center YMCA, 3521 N.
