Sun City Mesquite opens sales center, models

Del Webb's Sun City Mesquite, an age-qualified community located about 90 miles northeast of Las Vegas near the Nevada-Arizona border, opened its sales center and 12 new model homes June 16.

In addition to entertainment and refreshments, the grand opening celebration included information and presentations on the homes and community, as well as a historic look at the Mesquite area.

"For many of our guests, this was their first look at Mesquite as a community," said Sasha Jackowich, public relations and marketing manager for Del Webb. "The feedback we have received has been very encouraging. Our guests were not only thrilled with the event but very positive on both Sun City Mesquite and the entire Mesquite community."

Many guests contracted to buy homes at the two-day event. The homes are all single-story designs, ranging from about 1,200 to 3,100 square feet with two- or three-car garages. Prices start in the low $200,000s.

About 30 homes are in various stages of construction with the first deliveries expected later this month.

"We are very pleased to have Sun City Mesquite up and running," Jackowich said. "After years of planning and preliminary work, we at last have completed models and a completed sales pavilion to showcase the beauty of Sun City Mesquite. We look forward to welcoming our first residents in the coming weeks."

Mesquite provides a leisurely, small-town lifestyle with ample medical, retail and entertainment facilities.

Interest in Sun City Mesquite kicked into high gear over the past few months as Del Webb rolled out an information campaign. About 14,000 registrants enrolled on the Pioneer VIP interest list, including people from every state in the nation.

More than 4,000 prospective buyers attended informational seminars held recently in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Utah and Mesquite.

Many seminar attendees took advantage of the opportunity to reserve one of the first 100 homes released for sale in the community. The first residents are expected to move into their homes in late July or early August.

Sun City Mesquite is the flagship community of the 2,014-acre Anthem Mesquite community. It will feature a host of amenities designed for recreation and social interaction, including a recreation center with fitness facilities, a computer lab, a swimming pool and various sports courts, including bocce and tennis.

Central to Sun City Mesquite is an 18-hole golf course designed by the award-winning firm of Gary Panks & Associates of Scottsdale, Ariz. Upon completion, the community will have about 3,400 homes.

Many of the community amenities in Sun City Mesquite are expected to be complete by the time the first residents move into their homes this month, and the recreation center will be complete by November.
