The third annual Horses4Heroes Walk-Trot Spectacular is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 8 and 9 at Horseman's Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road. Admission is free to spectators. Horses4Heroes is a nonprofit that strives to make horseback riding affordable for and accessible to the families of the heroes in our communities, including military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, critical care and hospice nurses, special needs school teachers and families struggling with serious, chronic illnesses and/or disabilities. NASCAR revs up for Night at the races

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series: Whelen Night at the Races is scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Crystal palace to host all-day skate

An All-Day Skate is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Crystal Palace Skating Center, 4680 Boulder Highway. Admission is $8 or $9 with skate rental included. A meal special also is planned from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. that includes two slices of pizza, a soft drink and four video game tokens.

Teens to make Tie-dye shirts

Teens are invited to try their hands at tie-dye from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave. Space is limited, and registration is recommended. Bring a pre-washed white or light colored shirt to dye and clothes that can get messy. For more information, call 507-3900.

The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.

Art submissions sought

Clark County Parks and Recreation is seeking art submissions to be displayed at the Day of the Dead exhibition at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, from Oct. 23 through Nov. 3. Works must relate to the holiday, which celebrates the lives of past and present loved ones. Artists must be 14 or older and residents of Clark County. A $100 prize is slated for best of show. Blackjacks plan Rugby practice

The Las Vegas Blackjacks rugby team is scheduled to practice at 7 p.m. today and Wednesday at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. The group practices at the park regularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
