TOWN ADVISORY BOARDS TO MEET

The Winchester Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive.

The Paradise Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Paradise Recreation and Community Services Center, 4775 McLeod Drive.

The Whitney Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 Missouri Ave.

The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.

NEVADA STATE BANK TO HELP HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE UNTIL DEC. 4

As a sponsor of the 15th annual 98.5 KLUC-FM Toy Drive, Nevada State Bank is scheduled to collect new and unwrapped children’s toys and bikes from Nov. 12 to Dec. 4.

Toys can be dropped off at any Nevada State Bank branch in the valley and will be delivered to KLUC in December.

SUNRISE LIBRARY TO OFFER CLASS ON HOW TO BUY AN E-READER

The Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave., is scheduled to offer a class on how to buy an e-reader from 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 22.

The free class will go over different types of e-readers and how to choose one that best fits your needs.

NEVADA PARTNERSHIP FOR HOMELESS YOUTH TO HOST SEVENTH ANNUAL PLASTIC FOOD DRIVE

The Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, a nonprofit dedicated to providing assistance and resources for homeless teenagers in Southern Nevada, is scheduled to host its seventh annual Plastic Food Drive through Nov. 26.

Fast food and grocery store gift card vouchers may be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the William Fry Drop-In Center, 4981 Shirley St.

WEIR PROJECT WINS NATIONAL AWARD

The Las Vegas Wash Coordination Committee announced that the Homestead and Lower Narrows Weirs Project received the 2013 American Public Works Association’s Environmental Project of the Year Award.

The $10 million project included the construction of two of the largest rock riprap weirs in the United States, secured 31 feet of head-cutting erosion and provided more than 1 1/2 miles of additional bank protection.

SCHOOL FOR INDIVIDUALIZED STUDY TO LAUNCH LAPTOPS FOR LEARNING HOLIDAY DRIVE

The Clark County School District’s Virtual High School and Academy for Individualized Study plans a Laptops for Learning Holiday Drive until Dec. 31.

The campaign is designed to give economically challenged potential enrolees free computers to take online classes.

The school will accept computers in good working condition. Donations are set to be refurbished and wiped clean by U.S. Micro Corp. Donations can be dropped off at the campus, 3050 E. Flamingo Road.
