TOWN ADVISORY BOARDS TO MEET

The Winchester Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 and 26 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive.

The Paradise Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 and 26 at the Paradise Recreation and Community Services Center, 4775 McLeod Drive.

The Whitney Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 Missouri Ave.

The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.

DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY SERVICES TO LAUNCH ONLINE CAREGIVER TRAINING

The Clark County Department of Family Services plans to launch Just In Time Training, a new online caregiver training program. The program provides caregivers with tools to enhance their parenting skills.

Caregivers can access hundreds of videos, with topics ranging from discipline, family integration, toilet training and working with biological families. The training sessions can be viewed 24 hours a day at qpinevada.com.

In addition to the video training, the site will provide access to interactive webinars where participants can ask questions in real time.

NEVADA STATE BANK TO HOLD FOOD DRIVE TO BENEFIT LAS VEGAS RESCUE MISSION

The Nevada State Bank plans to host a food drive through Nov. 8 to benefit the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, 480 W. Bonanza Road.

Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at any Nevada State Bank branch. Suggested items include instant potatoes, canned vegetables, rice, pasta, canned/instant soup, ramen noodles, cranberries/cranberry sauce and boxed stuffing.

TAX PREPARATION SERVICE SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

AARP Tax-Aide, a free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service, is looking for volunteers.

Training is scheduled for the first week of January. To register, visit aarp.org/taxvolunteer or contact district coordinator Jerry Allen at 702-233-1918.

GOVERNMENT SURPLUS AUCTION PLANNED NOV. 23

The largest government surplus auction of 2013 is scheduled for 8 a.m. Nov. 23 at 4320 Stephanie St.

The auction is set to offer vehicles, office equipment, lost and found electronics and other items used or acquired by government agencies, including McCarran International Airport, the Metropolitan Police Department and the area cities and state of Nevada.

Participants are urged to register as bidders during the preview and preregistration period set to open at the Stephanie Street site three days before the auction. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 20 through Nov. 22. Participants must present a valid ID to register. There is no cost to register.
