Teen finds newborn baby girl alive in dumpster — VIDEO

An abandoned newborn baby was found inside a dumpster by a South Carolina teen and his younger brother.

The boys heard a small noise coming from a dumpster in an apartment complex in Horry County.

When they realized it sounded like a baby crying, Austin Detray jumped inside and found a discarded baby girl wrapped in a plastic bag, WMBF News reports.

The teen sifted through garbage and found the 8-pound, 6 ounce baby’s face pressed into the plastic, close to suffocation.

“(The bag) was tied shut…it was, it was horrible,” Detray said. “I ripped it open and the umbilical cord was still there, the placenta, it was just born.”

Detray told his brother to go get help. The boys’ mother, Jessica Detray, was able to clear the baby’s mouth and nasal passages.

The infant left the scene alive with emergency responders.

The baby’s mother turned herself in and was hospitalized just hours after the rescue, according to NBC News.

She will not be identified by police until she has been charged, Horry County Police say.
