Well, well, the Criss Angel celebrity guest list raises the stakes for his "hard opening" of the new "Believe" Cirque du Soleil show at Luxor on Halloween night.
The show has been in ticketed previews for weeks. Early word was that "Believe" was not great. But this is a Cirque show, and Cirque doesn’t let shows fail. So it’s been getting tinkered with, and gone now is Angel’s finale, where he lip-synced to his "Mindfreak" TV theme song.
Anywho, coming to the "black carpet," instead of a red carpet, at 6 p.m. Friday, according to publicists: Evangeline Lily and Dominic Monaghan of "Lost"; Sully Erna from Godsmack, Neil Patrick Harris of "How I Met Your Mother"; porn star Tera Patrick; not-even-remotely-a-porn-star Marie Osmond; Hugh Hefner’s "girls" Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt; Hinder; Debbie Gibson (she prefers Deborah now); Christina Hendricks from "Mad Men"; Vince Neil of Motley Crue; Wilmer Valderrama of "That 70s Show"; Tanya Roberts (who replaced Shelley Hack (who I don’t even remember) for the last season of the old TV show "Charlie’s Angels"; Mike Tyson; footballer Michael Strahan; Adam Shankman from "So You Think You Can Dance?"; Siegfried, Carrot Top, Louie Anderson and Penn & Teller.
Cirque bigwigs will be there, too, of course, including The Man (Guy Laliberte) and The Other Man (Serge Denoncourt). In the press, lately, there have been some stories saying Angel and The Cirque Men have experienced a clash. Is it a Cirque show with Angel in it? Or is it an Angel show with Cirque in it? We’ll find out Friday night.
