The Nevada Pops plans to pay homage to music from Brazil, Cuba and Mexico during Fiesta at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall on the UNLV campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

Special guest Jose Hernandez, director of Mariachi Sol de Mexico, will assist on arrangements of “South of the Border” and “Maleguena,” a salute to bossa nova king Antonio Carlos Jobim, and other mariachi music.

Tickets are $18 for general admission and $14 for students, seniors and military personnel with valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at nevadapops.org.

Young performers plan free show
at Cadillac Ranch at Town Square

The Future Stars Showcase, featuring young performers from around the Las Vegas Valley, is set to feature participants’ skills at 1 p.m. May 1 at Cadillac Ranch in Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The performers range in age from 9 to 20 and have experience working with Las Vegas showroom acts, such as Clint Holmes, Kelly Clinton and Shades of Sinatra.

The group is directed by Fortgang Music Productions.

The performance is free.

Jazz in the Park series returns

Clark County’s Jazz in the Park series is back with free concerts through June at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and concerts are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

The lineup includes saxophonist Paul Taylor on Saturday, Tony and Grammy award-winner Brenda Russell on May 7, perennial favorite Spyro Gyra on May 14, Jeff Lorber Fusion on May 21 and saxophone group The Sax Pack on June 4.

Picnics, blankets and low-back chairs are welcome. Food and beverages are available for purchase. No pets are allowed. For more information, call 455-8200.

Watch Elvis Costello and the imposters at the Pearl at the Palms

Elvis Costello and his band, The Imposters, are slated to perform at 8 p.m. May 13 at the Pearl at the Palms.

Known for his eclectic genre-crossing, Costello has been performing and producing music since 1977.

The Guilty Pleasures to perform
monthly at Green Valley Ranch

The Guilty Pleasures, a band that performs ’70s and ’80s soft yacht rock, is scheduled to perform monthly concerts starting this week. Shows are free and open to ages 21 or older.

Shows are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month at Ovation at Green Valley Ranch Resort, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway. Doors open at 8 p.m. The first show is set for Thursday.

Henderson REVEALS May ARTBEAT LINEUP

The city of Henderson announced its May lineup for ArtBeat.

Free performances include Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand on May 6, the Nevada Chamber Symphony on May 13 and Crossin Dixin on May 20.

ArtBeat performances are set to start at 8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.

Clark county MUSEUM exhibit
SHOWCASES PUEBLO INDIAN CULTURE

The Clark County Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway, is hosting a new exhibit, “Pueblo Indian Art: Ongoing Traditions,” through June 2.

Guests can enjoy 150 years of Pueblo Indian culture, including jewelry, pottery, baskets, textiles and artifacts.

Admission to the exhibit is $2. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. daily.
